Welcome to Bumblebees Class

Welcome to Bumblebees Class, the learning environment for Nursery and Reception. We are taught by Miss Upton, Mrs Finch, Miss Mynard and Miss Haynes. If we are not in our classroom, we can be found on our Pirate ship in our outdoor learning area, cooking in our outdoor kitchen, exploring in the conservatory or learning in our Forest School area.

In Bumblebees class we are inclusive, accepting, and work hard at being the best versions of ourselves. We believe every child is unique and full of potential, so we passionately work to help them progress, achieve, and discover their given talents.

Whilst our engaging curriculum and environments encourage learning and independence, our class ethos of respect helps to develop us into kind, caring, responsible young people.

Every morning we all enjoy daily sessions of Phonics following the Read, Write, Inc programme. We learn English, Maths, Reading, and Handwriting every morning too.

In the afternoons, Nursery and Reception enjoy enriching activities such as art, cooking, and forest school alongside child initiated sessions to enable them to develop the key strands of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Homework – Reception: Expectations and links

Reading

Please hear your child read regularly, ideally every day. Please then write in their reading diary and teachers will sign planners each day. Your child’s book will be changed every Thursday.

Handwriting

Your child has begun their handwriting journey. Each week we will send home letter formation homework for them to practice the skills they have been learning in class. We always love to see children’s writing so please allow them to continue in their books if they wish to show further practice.

Doodle Maths

There will be weekly homework set onto MyMaths, where your child can complete a task related to the math’s concept they are currently studying. Please follow this link: DoodleMaths | DoodleLearning

Topic

Each half-term the children will receive homework based on the current topic that we are covering in school. Activities will be posted in your child’s homework diary.

We want to share this work in class – Please post pictures of these pieces of homework onto your child’s portfolio onto Class DoJo and children will be awarded DoJo points for every piece of homework that they complete and share. On the last week of half-term, class teacher’s will review all the homework and children will have the opportunity to share these pieces with their classmates.
