Pupil Jobs and Leadership Roles

At Tilstock, we believe that every child should have a job or leadership role in school to develop:-

Responsibility and Independence: Taking on small jobs helps children develop a sense of responsibility and independence. They learn to manage tasks and understand the importance of fulfilling their duties.

Skill Development: These jobs can help pupils develop various skills such as time management, organisation, teamwork, and communication. For example, being a class monitor or helping in the library can enhance their organizational and interpersonal skills.

Confidence Building: Successfully completing tasks and being recognised for their efforts can boost children’s self-esteem and confidence. This positive reinforcement encourages them to take on new challenges.

Real-World Connections: Introducing children to the concept of work and different roles within the school helps them understand the real-world applications of their education. It can make learning more relevant and engaging.

Aspiration and Motivation: Exposure to various roles can broaden their horizons and inspire them to think about their future careers. It helps in challenging stereotypes and nurturing aspirations from an early age.

Community and Belonging: Participating in school jobs fosters a sense of community and belonging. Pupils feel more connected to their school environment and take pride in contributing to it.

Every child will have a job role within their classroom, whereas children in Key Stage 2 ( Years 3, 4, 5, 6) will apply for leadership roles across the school. Each year pupils complete a job application form to apply for the various roles across the school.
